I have had glue ear, and associated problems when flying, for many years. The last major bout was two years ago. Nothing that the ENT specialists at the hospital (steroid nose sprays, antihistamines etc)suggested helped but eventually after several months, and while on the waiting list for grommets, the ears cleared on their own.

Two months ago the problem returned and I was almost completely deaf in my right ear. After reading an article in a national newpaper about Otovent being useful for pain on descent in aircrafts, I read about the product online and decided to give it a go to see if it would shift the glue ear.

The balloon was initially difficult to inflate and I could imagine that it might be tricky for a child. On first use I could feel crackling in the deaf ear. Each consecutive use made the ear pop a bit more and hearing started to return. I then tried the technique (tricky at first) of swallowing once the balloon is inflated. This produced an immediate result and the ear started popping. It is now five days after the first use and my ear is completely clear. It is brilliant! I can't recommend this product enough and can't understand why it isn't prescribed by health professionals.
